Two policemen killed in accident on Jalandhar-Pathankot road

TANDA URMAR: Two police personnel of the Tanda police station were killed in a road accident near the Harsipind turn on the Jalandhar-Pathankot main road on Monday night.



Tanda Urmar: Two police personnel of the Tanda police station were killed in a road accident near the Harsipind turn on the Jalandhar-Pathankot main road on Monday night. The mishap took place around 10 pm. Both cops had left the Tanda police station on a motorcycle for patrolling. As the flyover descends on the road from the Pathankot side to Jalandhar on the national highway, their bike was reportedly hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Hersi Pind turn due to which both fell on the road. Some passerby gave information of the incident to 108 Ambulance at which the ambulance workers brought them to the Tanda Civil  Hospital, but both had already died in the mishap. The deceased were identified as constable Pawan Kumar, son of Ghasita Ram, resident of Abdullahpur (Mukerian), and Home Guard jawan Bhagwan Singh, son of Sucha Singh, a resident of Pulpukhta. It was learnt that the Tanda police had found the car responsible for the accident yet no one could confirm it. — OC
