Jalandhar, February 22
The Jalandhar unit of Joint Front, a forum of CPWD service associations, today held a mass protest rally against the Union Government’s proposal to turn the Central Public Works Department into a corporation.
All officials of the CPWD, Jalandhar, participated in the protest rally. They criticised the Central Government for the move.
The department demanded that the government must withdraw the decision of making CPWD a corporation as it would affect its employees badly.
They said the department had been working with dedication since its inception. It was the government that had failed to fill vacant posts in the department for the past several years.
They also demanded that the government should fill the vacant posts on a priority basis.
