Special train service for passengers on Gurpurb

JALANDHAR: Following the demand raised by renowned environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal, the Railways started a special train service on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Following the demand raised by renowned environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal, the Railways started a special train service on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The service has been provided for two days — November 25 and November 26. However, the demand was raised for the special train service for three days.

“Two special trains from Ferozepur to Sultanpur Lodhi and from Jalandhar to Sultanpur Lodhi have been started today. The trains will return to their destinations tomorrow,” said Seechewal, while welcoming the move of Railways Department.

During the visit of General Manager of Northern Railways AK Puthia to the city on November 21, a memorandum highlighting the demand was handed over to him.

The birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru is a significant occasion among the Sikhs across the world. Th special train service was demanded by environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal for the occasion.
