Noose tightened on ‘peti’ mafia

Ludhiana: The Excise and Taxation Department on Thursday seized 48 cartons of goods that were being taken to railway station without bills. The cartons contained hosiery goods worth Rs 15 lakh.



Ludhiana: The Excise and Taxation Department on Thursday seized 48 cartons of goods that were being taken to railway station without bills. The cartons contained hosiery goods worth Rs 15 lakh.  Nobody has come to claim the goods, said HPS Ghotra, senior official. The "peti" mafia collects goods from traders, arrange for their transportation to  the parcel office and load packages on trains. The goods are sent without invoices. TNS
