Joie de vivre marks I-Day, Janmashtami at schools, colleges

JALANDHAR: The Nobel School celebrated week-long celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna on its premises. The school was decorated with flowers, balloons, duppattas and peacock feathers on the occasion.

Jalandhar: The Nobel School celebrated week-long celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna on its premises. The school was decorated with flowers, balloons, duppattas and peacock feathers on the occasion. Children gave swings to the diety of Krisnha. Group dance and songs were performed by  tiny-tots of the Kindergarten. Prof CL Kochher, chairman, praised the staff and students. Er Kumar Shiv Kochher, managing director, described the event as auspicious and spiritually inspiring. Principal Meenakshi Mehta described Krishna as adorable, the lover and a compassionate friend. She told about the values of ‘Geeta’.

Innocent Hearts School

Children of Innocent Hearts celebrated Independence Day at the three branches of the school (GMT, Loharan and Cantt).The National Flag was hoisted on the occasion. Patriotic poems were recited by students. Tiny tots from Innokids came attired as freedom fighters. The school campus resounded with ‘Vande Matram and Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Sonali and Neelu hoisted the National Flag at CJR. Staff members adorned the miniature of Tricolour on their lapels.  At Loharan, kids prepared dishes using colours of the National Flag.   Dheeraj Banati, director principal of the  school, addressed the assembly and told about the importance of the day.

MGN Public School 

MGN Public School celebrated Independence Day on its premises. Principal Gunmeet Kaur unfurled the National Flag. All in unison sang National Anthem and expressed the joy of freedom. The NCC scouts band performed on the occasion and took part in a march past. Majority of children and teachers were dressed up in the Tricolor. Vice-principal KS Randhawa, primary wing in charge, Sushma Prehar, along with coordinators of secondary and senior secondary wing, among others, were present, on the occasion

Apeejay School

Apeejay School celebrated Independence Day and Janmashtami on its premises on Monday. Tiny tots of the school enacted scenes from the life of Lord Krishna. Dance, play and mime made the show wonderful. Headmistress of the school unfurled the National Flag. She inspired the children to be responsible citizens of the country.

Sanskriti KMV School

Sanskriti KMV School, celebrated Independence Day on its campus, Principal, staff and students observed the day as the National Day.  Principal Rachna Monga told about the importance of the day and drew attention towards the duties and responsibilities that a students and a teacher must fulfil as a true citizen and build a right national character.Chander Mohan, president and Dr Atima Sharma, manager of the school, extended their good wishes to the parents.

Lyallpur Khalsa College

Social Sensitisation Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a rangoli making competition to commemorate the Independence Day. Dr Suman Chopra and Dr Rashpal Sandhu adjudged the competition. Yashika, Harkirat, Khusbu, Sapna Dogra, Gurwinder, Deepika, Gurpreet, Simranjeet Kaur, Manjot Chaudary were given prizes. Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra reminded the students of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the independence of the country.  Students took ‘swachta pledge’ for becoming responsible citizens. Members of the club, Prof Amita Shahid (convenor), Dr Jaswinder Kaur and Dr Patwant Kaur were applauded for their diligent efforts. 

Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Student Welfare Association of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, celebrated Independence Day. A patriotic song was sung on the occasion. Lovepreet Kaur, Assistant Prof, Punjabi, threw light upon the meaning of the independence and duty of citizens towards making the country a better place to live in. Students presented an act exhibiting the glimpses of contribution of martyrs. Principal Dr Sucharita said after 71 years of independence, the country still struggled to get freedom from the limitations of caste, colour and creed.—TNS
