Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in Phagwara, Goraya, Phillaur, Noormahal and Nakodar on Tuesday, but politics dominated the celebrations at most places.

In Phagwara, Independence Day celebrations were politicised by leaders belonging to different political parties.
