AMRITSAR:The Counter intelligence today claimed to have nabbed a notorious criminal wanted in many criminal cases, including attempt to murder and kidnapping.

The Counter intelligence today claimed to have nabbed a notorious criminal wanted in many criminal cases, including attempt to murder and kidnapping. The police also recovered a weapon from his possession.

 Kuljit Singh, AIG, Counter Intelligence, today said the accused was arrested following a tip-off. He was identified as Gurparvesh Singh, alias Bhesha, a resident of Basti Vakeelan Wali village in Ferozepur. The police recovered a 9mm pistol, and five live cartridges from his possession. A case under Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms act has been registered against him and further interrogation was under progress.

"Gurparvesh is wanted in more than 10 cases of attempt to murder, kidnapping and vehicle jacking, registered in various police stations of the state," he said. In April 2016, he, along with his accomplices, kidnapped a Ludhiana resident, Robin Mittal. When contacted for ransom, his family members informed the police. —TNS
