Chance for SC, OBC students to apply for post-matric scholarship

JALANDHAR: Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today urged the students belonging to the Schedule Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) to apply for the post-matric scholarship scheme 2017-18 for availing its benefits.

Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today urged the students belonging to the Schedule Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) to apply for the post-matric scholarship scheme 2017-18 for availing its benefits.

The DC said the state government had decided to give them a special chance to apply for the scheme, for which the portal would be reopened. The DC added that students could apply for the scholarship on the portal from January 22 to 25.

Likewise, Sharma said for educational institutions, the portal would remain open from January 26 to 29 while for the sanctioning authority, it would be opened from January 30 to February 2. The DC said for the line department, the portal would be opened from February 3 to 6.

The DC said after the stipulated time period, the portal for every section would be closed. He said the students interested in availing the scheme must upload a scanned copy of his/ her attendance sheet certified by the head of the educational institute. Sharma said the remaining conditions for submitting the application were same.

The DC added that except for those students who were pursuing MBBS or BDS courses, it would be mandatory to upload a scanned copy of the admit card or registration card or result of the semester in which the student was studying.

The DC said in an undertaking, it would be verified that the student was studying in a particular organisation and his attendance was verified. Sharma said the specimen of this would be sent to the welfare department.

Dates for applying on portal

  • The DC said the students could apply for the scholarship on the portal from January 22 to 25.
