Adampur resident dies in road accident, another injured

Hoshiarpur, March 19

An Adampur resident, Surjit Kumar (52), son of Keshav Das, was killed and another was injured in an accident that occurred on the banks of the canal near Panchhta village under the Mehtiana police station on Monday.

Surjit Kumar died on the spot, while Ramesh Kumar was seriously injured. Ramesh Kumar was sent to a private hospital in Adampur and Surjit Kumar’s body was sent to the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

The families of the victims said both of them were on their scooter and had gone to visit Naina Devi. On their way back, an unknown vehicle hit their scooter.

Youth swallows poisonous medicine, dies

Hoshiarpur: In Shamchurasi town, a youth accidentally swallowed a poisonous medicine which caused his death. The victim, Malikat Singh, was studying in Government College, Hoshiarpur. His family members said he was mentally disturbed for some reason and due to this, he swallowed the poisonous medicine mistakenly. The police have recorded the proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to the victim’s kin after post-mortem.
