344 booths declared sensitive, 31 hyper-sensitive in city

JALANDHAR: Over 344 booths in the city were declared sensitive and 31 were declared hyper sensitive by the district administration ahead of the municipal polls scheduled to be held on December 17 in the state.

Over 344 booths in the city were declared sensitive and 31 were declared hyper sensitive by the district administration ahead of the municipal polls scheduled to be held on December 17 in the state.

While the municipal committees of Bhogpur, Goraya, Bilga and Shahkot have 13 booths each, they have been declared sensitive by the district adminsitartion. Patara and Maqsudan, which too falls under the municipal limits have two sensitive booths each.

Among the hyper sensitive booths are those located in Dhilwan, Guru Nanak Pura, Chuggitti, Garha, Basti Sheikh area, Khurla and Kingra villages. A booth located in Shivalik Public School in Urban Area Phase 1 too was declared hyper sensitive.

Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha said that while the sensitive and hyper sensitive booths had been identified, the department has not asked for any additional force or the deployment of paramilitary companies during the elections.
