The Lok Sabha on Saturday adopted a resolution on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, with Speaker Om Birla, who had moved the resolution, describing its construction as a historic achievement, noting that it will give the values of hope and unity to future generations.

The resolution was adopted after a four-hour-long discussion on the “the construction of historic Shri Ram Temple and Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ramlalla”. From the Opposition, the Left, DMK and Trinamool Congress were not present in Lok Sabha during the discussion. Only the Congress and NCP (Pawar) members could be seen attending the discussion.

Earlier, speaking in the Lok Sabha while participating in the discussion, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Supreme Court verdict on Ram Temple showed how secular India is. “The Supreme Court verdict on Ram temple showed India’s secularism, as nowhere else a majority

community had to fight legally so long for its faith,” Shah said in Lok Sabha.

“The BJP and our leader Prime Minister Modi do what they say. We always stood for the construction of Ram Temple. Consecration of Ram Temple ended the long agitation which had begun since 1528 and the legal fight since 1858,” the Home Minister said while highlighting that January 22, the day of ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Temple, was the beginning of a “journey of a great India”.

The temple’s construction is the journey from struggle to devotion, from chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ to ‘Jai Sia Ram’, he said while praising Modi for his leadership and the arduous religious discipline he subjected himself for 11 days in the run-up to the ceremony.
