School prepares you to enter the real world, face challenges

Shriya Thakur, Head Girl

School life is a very important part of one’s upbringing because it provides an opportunity to study and become disciplined. Besides, school life is a preparatory stage to enter the real world and sometimes public life.

I was admitted to this school at the age of four. Everything was new then. It was as if I was on some other planet.  It’s now 14 years since I joined this school and my life has changed tremendously. Schooling has turned me into a new person.

When I joined the school, I was terrified at the thought of being separated from my parents even for an hour! But the school instilled confidence in me. It imparted to me the courage to fight; it gave me the knowledge to differentiate between good and evil. It gave me passion to do my best and excel in my area of expertise. The school nurtured wisdom in me and I feel indebted to my school.

Some of the past years have seen me develop in academics. From being a mediocre student, I now shine in several subjects. My teachers have been a source of help to me which I immensely appreciate. Teachers act as guides and guardians and direct students on the right path. To me, school is the nursery of life – whatever one learns here remains with us for the rest of one’s life. The school has taught me discipline, honesty, punctuality, dedication, respect, love and good manners, etc. A lot of emphasis is given to formation of character, moral education and acquiring good principles in life.

I had always dreamt of being the Head Girl of my school and now my dream has come true! I did a lot of hard work to achieve my goal. I studied hard, actively took part in academics and other co-curricular activities. You dream and you work hard to achieve your goal. It’s your main focus. Other than academics, the overall development is what matters.

As the Head Girl of the school, I would encourage young talent to excel in the field of sports.

I am grateful to Day Star for educating me to be a good person and to value the things which I have. These 14 wonderful years have no doubt been the best years of my life. Recollection of these fond memories over the years brings a smile on my face even today.
