Yamunanagar, March 25

A woman and her paramour along with two others have been arrested for killing her husband, a businessman.

A special investigation team (SIT) of the Karnal police arrested Priyanka and her paramour Rohit on March 22. Their accomplices Sonu Singh, a pharmacist, and Satish Kumar were arrested yesterday.

Police sources said Yogesh Batra, who owned plywood factories and other businesses, had died under mysterious circumstance at his residence in HUDA Sector-17, Jagadhri, on May 27 last year. His wife Priyanka had claimed before her in-laws that he died of heart attack and the body was cremated without conducting an autopsy.

However, after some time, Yogesh’s parents suspected that his wife killed him, following which they lodged a complaint with the Yamunanagar police and the Inspector General of Police, Karnal Range. Taking action on the complaint, the IGP formed and SIT of the Karnal police to investigate the case.

Sources said the SIT revealed that Rohit was Priyanka’s gym trainer. They strangled Yogesh with the help of Sonu Singh and Satish Kumar.

SIT members booked for graft

Yamunanagar: The Yamunanagar Police on Saturday booked some persons, including members of a special investigation team of the Karnal police, which was probing the Yamunanagar-based businessman Yogesh Batra’s murder case, for accepting bribe from family members of the accused. Subhash Chand, SHO, City Police, Yamunanagar, said he had a video in which a member of the SIT seemed to be taking money from family members of one of the accused. Other members were also seen as present in the video. He said a case had been registered against those giving and taking bribe under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He said they would find the reason for the illegal deal. TNS
