KARNAL: Standing wheat crop on around 10 acres and stubble in around 15 acres were destroyed in a major fire at Nalikhurd village in the district on Saturday afternoon.

Standing wheat crop on around 10 acres and stubble in around 15 acres were destroyed in a major fire at Nalikhurd village in the district on Saturday afternoon.

A short-circuit is said have caused the fire. The wheat crop in the fields of Ashok Kumar and Ajit Singh was gutted. They were in their fields when the fire broke out.

In Yamunanagar, standing wheat crop on two acres in Akbarpur village was destroyed in a fire on Saturday.

Farmer Nirmal Singh urged the government to pay compensation for his loss. — TNS
