Those belonging to the SC category will now be able to offer prayers at the temple of Daba Bhaiya in Sihash (Nainsukh) village without any fear.
This was stated by the upper caste people from five villages during a panchayat held at the Jatusana police station to resolve the issue.
Those, who had stopped SC women from entering the temple on Sunday, tendered an apology. They also promised to maintain social harmony in the village.
Sources said the police had served notices under Section 160 CrPc on both parties to work out an amicable solution. The parties reached the police station this morning.
People belonging to the upper caste from Rohdhai, Lala, Raojuvaas, Sihash and Nain Sukhpura villages came to the police station, while the number of SC men was also considerable.
“After hearing them, the panchayat held some upper caste people guilty of misconduct and asked them to apologise. They were also asked not to indulge in such an act in the future. Thereafter, it was decided that all religious places located in all five villages are for the people of every caste and they can perform ‘puja’ there without any hesitation,” said one of the members of the panchayat.
Raj Karan, SHO, Jatusana police station, said the issue was resolved amicably after a meeting with both parties.
“It was a case of mis-communication. Some upper caste people had taken away ‘langar’ in order to prevent the possibility of any tense situation in the village after some misunderstanding over offering prayers at the temple,” the SHO said.
