A score of women along with other villagers today locked a powerhouse in the Israna block of the district in protest against the drive of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) to detect electricity theft. The protesting women alleged that UHBVN employees harassed them in the name of checking.

The women gathered at the powerhouse and raised slogans against the UHBVN employees. They locked the gate of the powerhouse, forcing the UHBVN employees and other persons to wait outside for more than a hour.

Meanwhile, Naveen Sindhu, SHO, Israna police station, reached the powerhouse and pacified the protesting women and villagers. The gate of the powerhouse was opened by breaking the lock.
