Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday expressed discontent over tardy lifting of procured wheat after finding huge heaps in the grain market. He sought a reply from DC Sonel Goel and directed her to ensure lifting at the earliest.

Khattar was here to inspect procurement and transportation of wheat while on way to Gurugram. Expressing displeasure over poor lifting, he asked the DC who would suffer the loss in case of inclement weather.

A commission agent informed Khattar that the transporter was charging Re 1 per bag extra for transportation. They had urged the district authorities to speed up lifting, but to no avail, he alleged.

Accompanied by Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Karan Dev Kamboj, Khattar interacted with farmers and inspected the weight of wheat sacks on scales and the quality of wheat.

“District officials have been directed to pack wheat lying in the open in gunny bags and ensure transportation without delay in view of a weather scare,” he said.
