CM says don’t politicise issue

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said the issue of SYL canal should not be politicised. Although the Supreme Court has given its decision in favour of Haryana, regular hearing is being conducted in the case.

Khattar, who was replying to the queries of mediapersons here on Wednesday, was asked to comment on the issue of SYL canal. He said an all-party delegation led by him had called on the President on this issue who gave them a patient hearing. The CM said the Supreme Court had already repealed the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act-2004 passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha and now, the matter was pending with the Supreme Court for implementation.  He said though the SYL issue was sub judice, Haryana should get its due share of water. The CM said law and order would be maintained in the state, adding that besides making an appeal to people, other political parties had also been asked not to violate law. TNS
