Farmers booked for blocking road

KAITHAL: The police have booked more than 100 farmers for blocking the Kaithal-Ambala road near the Kaithal drain on Friday afternoon.

KAITHAL: The police have booked more than 100 farmers for blocking the Kaithal-Ambala road near the Kaithal drain on Friday afternoon. The farmers from Kultaran and Kaluwali Gamri villages blocked the road for over three hours after wheat crop on more than 100 acres was destroyed in a fire. The protesters alleged that the fire spread from the waste dumping ground on the Khurana road to their fields. They alleged that the contractor engaged in lifting and dumping of the waste and his workers were responsible for the fire as they set the garbage on fire and sparks from the site spread to their fields. Meanwhile, the affected farmers on Saturday met the Deputy Commissioner and demanded shifting of garbage dump from the site. TNS
