Yamunanagar, July 19
The 18th death anniversary of JN Kapur, founder of DAV institutions, Yamunanagar, was organised in DAV College for Girls here yesterday.
Dr Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheswar University, Hisar, said Kapur’s contribution in the fields of education, health, social services and freedom movement would be remembered for ever.
“JN Kapur’s contribution to spreading literacy among masses is incomparable,” said Tankeshwar.
He added that he completed his schooling from DAV Co-educational High School, Jagadhri.
He said there was no school at that time in the area. “Due to Kapur’s efforts, I had good education at the school level and rose to become Vice-Chancellor of the university,” Tankeshwar said.
Ram Dev, social activist from Chandigarh, said Kapur dedicated his whole life for the welfare of people. He himself had stayed in Kapur’s house in Lahore before Partition for education.
Vijay Kapur, chairman, DAV Schools, Yamunanagar, welcomed the guests. He said 16 needy students were given uniforms in Kapur’s memory.
