Minor girl hit by bullet during Janmashtami celebrations

NEW DELHI:A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Kanak, was hit by a bullet when she had gone out to see Janmashtami celebrations with her father in GTB Enclave, Dilshad Garden, last night.

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Kanak, was hit by a bullet when she had gone out to see Janmashtami celebrations with her father in GTB Enclave, Dilshad Garden, last night.

Around 8 pm, Kanak was on her father Namit Kumar’s arms when the bullet hit her in the chest.

She was rushed to GTB Hospital.

According to girl’s grandfather Deep Chand, “Namit had taken Kanak to show her the ‘Krishna Leela during which somebody fired in the air. Initially we thought that a stone must have hit her. But when we saw her crying and holding her chest we saw her chest was bleeding profusely and a bullet was stuck there.”

According to the police, the girl is out of danger now. The bullet had hit something else first and then got diverted and hit the girl, said a police official.
