New Delhi, March 23

Reviewing the use of technology by the Delhi Police in the fifth "theme based’ meeting, Lt. Governor Anil Baijal today directed for proper upkeep of records, to evolve with advancement of the technology and for random checks of existing systems.

The LG asked Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik to regularly test check the systems in place, utilise various apps in operation optimally, keep on digitizing services offered to the people  and to create awareness among people about these to ensure maximum outreach.

‘One Touch Away’ app of the Delhi Police must be widely publicised to utilise services optimally, Baijal said.

The LG also reviewed the ‘action taken points’ of the previous meetings on traffic management, women safety, community policing initiatives, improving efficiency of the police functioning. He was briefed about the steps taken for last mile connectivity with the DMRC and provision for number plate reading machines, task force for women meetings, etc. Dark spot areas have been identified and data shared with the Delhi government. He asked the concerned officers to undertake regular checks to ensure that the systems are functioning well at all times.

In a presentation by the Delhi Police, Baijal was informed about the status of functioning of various services on ground, including the  ZIPNET and citizen services apart from future plans under which ‘e-saathi' app is being designed in two phases.

He was informed about Cyber Highway under which all police stations are connected with each other. In partnership with MTNL, an exclusive spectrum for the police is available through the data centre at Kamla Market and Pune.
