A delegation of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), under the leadership of its president Ajay Maken, today met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal submitting a memorandum seeking a CBI inquiry into Rs 571-crore CCTV camera installation scam in the city, as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government inflated the tender amount from the initial Rs 130 crore to Rs 571 crore to favour a Chinese government company, Hikvision, for kickbacks.
Maken presented all the relevant documents regarding the CCTV camera installation scam to the LG, as to how the initial contract of Rs 130 crore was hiked to Rs 571 crore to favour Hikvision to put the security of the country at risk and sought a CBI inquiry into the matter.
He said by giving the CCTV camera installation contract to Chinese company, the AAP government has compromised the security of the country, women’s safety and privacy of the people.
Besides Maken, others in the delegation included former ministers Dr AK Walia, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Haroon Yusuf, Rajkumar Chauhan and Chattar Singh.
Addressing the media, Maken said the LG told the Congress delegation that he had not received any cabinet decision on the CCTV camera installation project, which makes it clear that the tender for Rs 571 crore for the installation of the CCTV cameras was floated without his approval, and without the sanction of the Delhi Cabinet.
Maken said the minister concerned and the Chief Minister made specifications at their own levels without getting the clearance from the authorities concerned.
