AAP MLAs Somnath Bharti and SK Bagga, who were at the LG House to attend a DDA meeting over the proposed amendments in Master Plan of Delhi 2021, alleged they were “evicted forcefully” from there by the police after they insisted that they be allowed to meet LG Anil Baijal to discuss the Delhi crisis.

However, the Raj Niwas in a statement claimed, “After the meeting ended, MLAs Somnath Bharti and SK Bagga, who came to attend the meeting, refused to leave the residential premises of the Lt Governor, on the pretext of joining the dharna of the Chief Minister.”

The two MLAs were “repeatedly requested” to end their “unauthorised occupation” of the residential premises of the LG, added the statement from Baijal’s office.

“However, they refused to leave and continued with their unauthorised occupation for about two hours and left only after considerable persuasion,” it further said.

Members of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Bharti and Bagga stayed back at the LG office after the meeting was over and sought an appointment to meet Anil Baijal.

Bharti said, “The LG vehemently refused to entertain any discussion on situation leading to dharna of the Chief Minister and three ministers in the LG house for over eight days.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had not called off his dharna then, termed the incident bizarre and said that it is constitutional duty of the LG to meet the elected representatives.

“Two MLAs evicted forcefully using police by LG? Just becoz they wanted to meet him? What is this going on? Why is LG refusing to meet MLAs, MPs, ministers, CM? Does LG know that he has a constitutional duty to meet them? He has no choice but to meet them? This is bizarre,” Kejriwal said on Twitter.

In a series of tweets, Bharti alleged that he, along with party MLA Bagga, was waiting in the conference room of the LG office after handing over a letter formally requesting for an appointment with Baijal, but they were “ousted” from the LG office by using police force.

“Ashamed that Honble LG in place of hearing us out for 2 min used heavy police led by ACP Sri Tyagi to oust us from LG House. Possibly the most potent democratic tool namely dialogue has no place in the Modi era,” Bharti tweeted.

But the allegation was denied by the police present there who in turn claimed the two AAP lawmakers did not have an appointment to meet Baijal and were asked to leave.
