A local court today awarded life imprisonment to two persons in a murder case. The court convicted them under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the convicts. Sachin, alias Patel (19), and Tinku, alias Chotal (26), both residents of Sector 38 (West), had killed Bablu, a resident of Dadu Majra.
The matter pertains to November 30, 2016 when the convicts were booked by the police. As per the police complaint, the Head Constable of the Maloya police station was patrolling at 8:30 pm. When he reached on the road in front of four-storeyed houses, he saw that two convicts were beating another youth. The attackers had a wooden stick and a knife. However, on seeing the police, they both fled from the spot.
The injured youth was taken to a hospital in a PCR vehicle. However, the injured person, recognised as Bablu, was declared brought dead by doctors. The duo was later arrested.
The defence counsel had argued that the motive was not proved against the convicts. It was also argued that the convicts did not know the deceased and recoveries had been planted after obtaining their signatures on blank papers.
