Close to 900 police personnel will be deployed across the city on Valentine’s Day to keep a close watch on unruly elements. Besides, traffic cops will also be present to check violations.
As many as 900 police personnel from police stations, different wings, the IRB and the PCR have been deployed for law and order duties. They include six DSPs, 24 inspectors and SHOs, 685 policemen and 105 policewomen.
Police personnel, including women, will be deployed in civil dress near girls’ colleges, Panjab University, Sukhna Lake, Leisure Valley and other important places.
A reserve force will remain on alert for any contingency. Nakas will be laid from 4 pm to 10 pm by the staff of police stations. Parties from police stations will also conduct patrolling in markets from 11 am to 10 pm.
The PCR staff will carry out patrolling in the city and PCR Gypsies and motorcycles will be stationed near educational institutes. Every location will be under the direct supervision of DSPs and inspectors for the maintenance of law and order.
The police said a pick-and-drop facility would be available for women to ensure their safety.
Restricted vehicle movement on Geri Route
The police will restrict the movement of vehicles on Geri Route from Sector 10 to 11 and the Leisure Valley, Sector 10, Chandigarh, to keep a watch on miscreants.
