A session on traffic rules was held for students in classes 5 to 10 during the morning assembly at the school. ASI Janak Raj from the Mohali Traffic Training Cell apprised students about various traffic rules. He also had an interactive session with the bus staff.

Hansraj Public School, Panchkula

‘Arya Yuva Samaj’ of the school organised ‘Mahatma Hansraj Day’ to pay homage to the social reformer on his 160th birth anniversary. The morning assembly was followed by a series of competitions, such as declamation, elocution, quiz, poster-making, and fancy dress, among others. About 400 students from schools across the Tricity participated in an event where a myriad of activities were curated to hone their skills. The HPS Founder’s Day trophy was lifted by Army Public School.

PML SD Public School, Chandigarh

The kindergarten section of the school celebrated Earth Day. Children engaged in various activities, including colouring, hand-painting, thumb-painting, and vegetable-printing using watercolours, among others. Children were urged to grow more trees for a better future.

The Tribune School, Chandigarh

Students of the school showcased their prowess in information technology and computer science by securing a total of 38 medals — 13 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze — during the Cyber Olympiad. This accomplishment highlighted the school’s commitment to promoting excellence in STEM education and preparing students to excel in the digital age.

Bhavan Vidyalaya, Mohali

The primary wing of the school celebrated Ram Navmi under the aegis of its human excellence cell, Sanskara. The event was an opportunity for the students to learn about and appreciate the cultural heritage of India.

Shishu Niketan School, Chandigarh

The school celebrated Fire Safety Day, where officials from the fire station at Sector 17 organised a workshop on “Disaster Risk Reduction in Schools” to educate students about the concept of disasters, their causes, mitigation measures, and to develop awareness towards reducing the occurrence of disasters.

Centre for Social Work, PU

The Centre for Social Work at the university organised a workshop on “Social Work Intervention in Community Health,” led by Dr Daman Ahuja, an eminent personality in the field of community health from New Delhi. Dr Ahuja spoke about the prevalent issues with public health and about various government initiatives taken for the health of youngsters. The chairperson of the Centre for Social Work, Gaurav Gaur, engaged with the students through group exercises focusing on the physical, emotional and social changes during adolescence.

PU Alumni Association

The university’s alumni association organised a talk on “Is happiness a choice?” at the Centre for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics and the Centre for Medical Physics. The speaker for the session was Dr Preeti Vohra. The audience was engaged in a short meditation session, followed by the talk with short exercises related to how happiness is induced by one’s own ‘inner world’.

Punjab Engineering College, Chd

A three-day-long event ‘Reconnaissance-2024’ was organised by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE PEC) International student chapter of Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh. Mohali SDM Deepankar Garg, a PEC alumni of the 2012 batch, attended the event. He urged the students to work with sincerity for their passion.

Aryans Group of Colleges, Mohali

The institute organised various events, including a fashion show, to celebrate Baisakhi. Meenakshi from Haryana (Face of the Year), Sahil and Parul from Jammu (Talented Students), Ishan Manhas from Jammu (Ms Talented), Gagan Bagga from Punjab (Mr Personality), Uday from Jammu (Miss Personality), and Renuka from Punjab (Shining Star) secured awards at the event.

Panjab University

The NSS volunteers organised a pledge-taking ceremony on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. The event was organised under the leadership of the programme coordinator of NSS, Dr Parveen Goyal, and the programme officers of NSS, Dr Sonia Sharma and Dr Vivek Kapoor. Around 70 NSS volunteers and students participated in the ceremony.
