Ruchika case crusader Anand Prakash dead

Ruchika Girhotra molestation case crusader Anand Prakash passed away here last night.

Prakash (74), who lived in Sector 6 here, was the father of Anuradha, friend of Ruchika.

Prakash was suffering from prostate cancer and was taking treatment from the PGI and the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula.

Recently, Prakash and his wife Madhu had lent support to the family of Varnika Kundu, on whose complaint a case of stalking was registered against Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala, in Chandigarh.

The cremation will take place at 4 pm tomorrow at the Mani Majra cremation ground. Anuradha and Ruchika were budding tennis players in 1990 when SPS Rathore (then IG and president, Haryana Lawn Tennis Association) allegedly molested Ruchika. Ruchika committed suicide on December 29 in 1993, three years after she was “molested” by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore. In 2016, the Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Rathore for molesting Ruchika but the charges of abetting suicide were dropped.
