Now, CHB to fix faults in your houses

Next time you have any complaints related to the maintenance of houses such as leakage, faulty water taps or broken doors, you need not worry about searching for the right person as the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to start subsidiary companies for maintenance purposes.

For the first time since its inception, the CHB has decided to form two companies — the Chandigarh Housing Board maintenance company and the Chandigarh Housing Board construction company.

While the maintenance company will be entrusted with the task of maintenance-related works of residents, the Chandigarh Housing Board construction company will construct flats and dwelling units of housing schemes launched by the board from time to time. 

The construction company may also shoulder the responsibility of the projects the board is planning to launch on 123 acres at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park. Sources said Maninder Singh Bains, Chairman of the board,  had approved the formation of the companies, which would not only increase the revenue of the CHB but would also ensure quality services to the residents.

The sources said a mobile app would be launched for the purpose of complaints related to the maintenance of houses. The maintenance of houses would be one of the biggest tasks for the CHB with the city having over 2.50 lakh houses. While over 60,000 houses have been built by the CHB, more than 2 lakh houses,  including rehabilitation colonies,  have been constructed by the Estate Office.

An officer of the board said the rates of different types of works would be fixed by the CHB,  which would be affordable and nominal.

Sources said a mobile app would be launched for the purpose of complaints related to the maintenance of houses.
