Taking a serious view of a large number of pending cases of public grievances, UT Adviser Parimal Rai has directed all Secretaries to put in place a system in their respective departments to ensure time-bound redressal of public
problems.
Sources said the Adviser wrote a letter to all Secretaries after he found that many departments had even failed to collect the login ID and the password for the portal started by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension for the early disposal of the grievances. Besides that he observed that a large number of the grievances were also pending on the portal of the Chandigarh Administration.
In a letter, the Adviser said “The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension has started the centralised public grievances redressal and monitoring system through a portal under the control of the Ministry for the disposal of public grievances. The Chandigarh Administration has created the login ID and password for all the secretaries for online transmitting of the public grievances concerned to their departments for disposal within a given time frame. The administrative secretaries were requested to depute the concerned persons /nodal officer to collect the login and password in the letter issued on October 19, 2016. Despite the importance of the matter, many departments have not yet done the same.”
He further said that “In addition to the above another grievance monitoring system at the level of the Chandigarh Administration is also running for redressal of the grievances through e-Samapark and online under the supervision of the Department of IT and NIC. It has been observed that a large numbers of the grievances are pending on both portals, which is serious lapse on the part of the HoDs.” The Adviser asked the secretaries to take immediate action and submit an action-taken report within a week. He also directed them to monitor the pending grievances in future and ensure their disposal in the timeline prescribed.
