Four carjackers target cab driver

CHANDIGARH:In a carjacking incident, four persons allegedly took away a Swift car from an Ola cab driver at Sector 43 this evening.

In a carjacking incident, four persons allegedly took away a Swift car from an Ola cab driver at Sector 43 this evening. The victim called up the police to say that his car had been taken away at gunpoint.

The police, however, later established that the accused, who are known to the victim, had some dispute with him following which they forcibly took away his car. According to sources, the complainant, Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Ropar district, alleged that four accused took away his car at gunpoint from the rear side of the ISBT, Sector 43. 

The accused had arrived in the Swift car, bearing a registration number of Punjab.  

The complainant was with his female friend when the accused took away his car. 

Several police teams rushed to the spot.

Sub-Inspector Des Raj, in-charge of the police post, ISBT, Sector 43, said one of the accused, Jagjeet, was known to the complaint. “They had a dispute over the car following which he took away the vehicle,” he said.

The sources said Jagjeet was also a cab driver. “We have contacted Jagjeet and told him to come back to resolve the issue,” the sources said, adding that the complainant had admitted that he had a dispute with Jagjeet.  An investigation has been initiated at the Sector 36 police station.
