The school bid adieu to its outgoing batch of Class XII with enthusiasm and nostalgia. For this, a farewell party was organised by the students of Class XI on the school premises. The programme started with the ‘havan’ ceremony in the morning, the event proceeded with the welcome speech by the students of Class XI. Words of wisdom in the form of blessings and best wishes were given to the outgoing students by principal Renu Verma. 

Govt Model Sr Sec School (Sec 33-D, Chandigarh) 

Bharat Scouts and Guides, Chandigarh, celebrated World Thinking Day on the school premises with great verve and vigour to mark the birth anniversary of Mrs & Mr Baden Powell, who pioneered the scouts and guides movement. As a precursor to the event, a four-day training camp was organised at the school  in which two scouts masters and two scouts and guides from each school participated in this camp. The function was graced by chief guest RS Brar, PCS, DSE-cum-State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides

St Joseph’s Sr Sec School (Chandigarh)

An award ceremony for the students of Class X was organised on the school premises. The function began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by the giving away of certificates to the deserving students. Principal Monica Chawla in her speech laid emphasis on the need for students to put in the best of their efforts and congratulated the award winners for their dedicated efforts. 

St Mary’s School (Chandigarh)

The school celebrated ‘Mother Tongue Day’. A multi-linguistic assembly was conducted by the students. All the teachers, principal and chairman were present on the occasion. Pledge was taken in Sanskrit, which was a unique experience for everyone. A student of Class III-A shared her views on ‘Unity in Diversity’ in Marathi language and a Bangali poem was also recited. To keep ourself updated, some general knowledge questions were asked in Punjabi. To know about daily happenings, news was read in Hindi. 

Small Wonders School (Mohali)

Over 200 students participated in the annual sports day with zeal and enthusiasm. They competed under various categories to register their position.  The day started with a march past followed by races— derby race, the colour run, stacking angels, proud balancers, obstacle race fun races, hurdle races, shuttle relays and  skill-based activities . “Such endeavours give boost to the children and inculcate sportsmanship, which we think needs to be inculcated in them right from the beginning,” said principal Hardip Nama. —TNS
