While launching a scathing attack on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of subverting the democracy and its values.

Accompanied by veteran BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha, while addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club on Sunday, Sinha said the Modi government had failed on all fronts.

He said the government failed to fulfil the promises made to the public before the Parliamentary elections in 2014. Due to the wrong policies of the government, there had been a feeling of hopelessness in the country.

From economic situation, issues concerning farmers, foreign policy to democracy, the veteran leader attacked the Modi government on various issues. He said democracy, traditions, institutions and several such things were under threat under the government.

While answering the question on the Karnataka’s episode, the veteran leader said the constitution was repeatedly violated in the state by the BJP government.

While denying any political ambition, he said his only aim was to spread awareness from his Rashtra Manch to save the democracy, which is under threat at present. Dismissing the government’s claims of creating more jobs, he pointed that the government had been making a fool of the people. Sinha said the government had also failed to deal with Pakistan.

Shatrughan Sinha also criticised several policies of the BJP and said he would continue to speak truth even if some called it anti-party activities. Sinha claimed that internal democracy in the BJP was destroyed.
