The Bahra Institute of Pharmacy at the Rayat Bahra Patiala campus organised an expert lecture on ‘Safety and Efficacy of Herbal Drugs’ here today.
Dr Suresh Kumar, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Punjabi University, said in today’s fast-paced world with increased level of stress, herbal drugs and ayurveda could play a vital role in fighting diseases such as cancer, diabetes. He said the herbal drugs were safer than allopathic medicines and were also cost effective. He dispelled the myth that ayurvedic and herbal drugs were recommended by unqualified doctors. He said any herbal drug gave best result if consumed optimally as prescribed by a professional.
