SML Isuzu donates van to GMCH, Chandigarh

Commercial vehicles manufacturer SML Isuzu Ltd., under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) healthcare programme, has collaborated with Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh for facilitating the collection of blood. Eiichi Seto, MD & CEO and Gopal Bansal, whole-time director and CFO of SML Isuzu, handed over a blood donation van to Dr BS Chavan (Director-Principal, GMCH) on March 14. The company officials said they were committed to improving healthcare facilities in the region and would work with leading hospitals in the future also.

Rally to promote cycling held at GNC, Muktsar

English Literary Society of Guru Nanak College for Girls, Muktsar, organised a cycle rally on the theme "Traffic rules and road safety, good health and better environment" on March 16. Around 100 cyclists from the college participated in the event to promote cycling. The rally passed through the main bazaars of the city. It was flagged off by Baljeet Singh Sidhu, SP (D), Muktsar, along with college principal Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal. 

PSPCL holds conference on new trends in transformer technology

Transformers play an important role in the transmission and distribution of electricity and it is, therefore, important in the modern context to design and operate transformers which are more robust, reliable and cost-effective. This was stated by NK Sharma, Director (Distribution), PSPCL, while addressing the two-day national conference on 'Modern trends in transformer technology' in Patiala on March 15. It was organised by PSPCL in association with Central Board of Irrigation and Power and Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE-India). Other key speakers focused on the importance of maintaining reliability of electricity supply to all sections of the consumers. Nearly 75 delegates from 30 organisations, including Power Grid, Pondicherry Electricity Department, Meghalaya Power Corporation, Nuclear Power Corporation of India and HSEB, besides 50 delegates from PSPCL participated in the conference. 

Rachna Dikshit takes over as RBI Regional Director

Rachna Dikshit has taken charge as Regional Director for Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh at Reserve Bank of India, Chandigarh, with effect from close of business hours on March 16. She has worked in various offices and departments of the bank, including the Central Office at Mumbai in different capacities in the areas of banking supervision and regulation among others and possesses more than 31 years of experience. Nirmal Chand, the erstwhile Regional Director, has been transferred to Department of Government and Bank Accounts (DGBA), Central Office, RBI, Mumbai.

&TV to air dance reality show on Saturday, Sunday

&TV has started a dance reality show, ‘High Fever…Dance Ka Naya Tevar’. It will bring forth exceptional dancing jodis from across the nation. The show will welcome unique jodis, across age groups and geographies, and give them a chance to put their best foot forward as a team, testing the dynamics of their relationship. Judging these jodis on various aspects will be an eminent panel of judges, including Lara Dutta, dance maestro and director Ahmed Khan and internationally acclaimed dancer Dana Alexa. The show will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 pm only on &TV.

SBI Ladies Club donates 15 almirahs to Saketri school

Under corporate social responsibility, a programme was organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Saketri, Panchkula, by SBI Ladies Club, Chandigarh, and State Bank Learning Centre, Panchkula on March 17. Sunita Sharma, president, SBI Ladies Club, donated 15 steel almirahs to the school. She also addressed the students and responded to their queries. All members of the Ladies Club also distributed sweets/chocolates among 473 students. 

Kent RO is title sponsor of Kings XI Punjab 

Kent RO Systems Limited has announced its new sport partnership as the 'Title Sponsor' of Kings XI Punjab in the IPL's 11th season that starts from April 7. Kent RO will occupy the leading position on Kings XI's playing jersey. It has also tied up with Star Sports exclusively for the 11th season of IPL where the extra innings will be powered by Kent RO. It has earmarked a budget of Rs 50 crore for this IPL.

NMDC bags top honours at global PR conclave

Country's largest iron ore producer NMDC bagged six awards at PRCI's 12th Global Communication Conclave held at Pune on March 10 and 11. Around 200 delegates from various PSEs, government agencies, media professionals deliberated on various issues on corporate communications, media, advertising, human relations,  social media, corporate social responsibility, artificial intelligence, agriculture, energy etc., on the theme 'Transform or perish'. During the event, Public Relations Council of India recognised the outstanding contributions in corporate services and communication and felicitated winners of corporate collateral awards under a host of categories.

A thanks-giving ceremony to felicitate members of Osborne Society of the US was held in Jalandhar on March 17 for rendering selfless service towards mega medical camp organised from March 11 to 15. The camp was organised jointly by Rotary Club (Jalandhar West), Dr KSG Memorial Charitable Society and New Ruby Hospital, Jalandhar. It was presided over by Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Punjab, on March 14. 

PKF wins second prize for best-maintained roundabout 

PKF-Namdev Chowk was declared the second best roundabout of Jalandhar in the 'Flower show and garden competition' organised by the Cantonment Board and Army's Vajra Corps, Jalandhar Cantonment, on March 11. Vajra AWWA vice-president Kulbir Kaur inaugurated the flower show and Brigadier Navpreet Singh, president, Cantonment Board, gave away the prizes. PKF also bagged the first prize for private garden (medium & kitchen garden) category.

CSIR develops formulation for management of diabetes

The CSIR has developed a formulation BGR34, to be used by patients of newly diagnosed diabetes as a measure for management of the disease. This was disclosed by Minister of AYUSH in the Lok Sabha recently. The anti-diabetic herbal composition BGR34 for Type-2 diabetes mellitus has been developed under the category of "Ayurvedic Proprietary Medicine" as per "Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (6th amendment) Rules" and has been tested for efficacy and safety in animal models.
