Bathinda: BJP leader Dyal Singh Sodhi has been appointed as BJP the Bathinda (Urban) district president.



Bathinda: BJP leader Dyal Singh Sodhi has been appointed as BJP the Bathinda (Urban) district president. In a press release, BJP state president Vijay Sampla today made the announcement. Sodhi has earlier remained as chairman of the Bathinda Improvement Trust, Punjab Punbus Roadways director and Yuva Morcha district president. He is also the state executive member of the BJP and in-charge of the party’s affairs in Mansa. He has a lot of work ahead to do in the city as party’s local unit is divided into many factions and it will not be an easy task for Sodhi to take along everyone. TNS

5 booked for Rs 35 lakh fraud

Bathinda: The Civil Lines police on Friday booked five persons in a property related fraud amounting to Rs 35 lakh. A case under Sections 420, 419, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against Angrej Singh, Iqbal Singh, advocate Rahul Gupta, Satish Kumar and Ravi Kumar. No arrest has been made so far. In a complaint lodged by Roshan Lal, a resident of Rampura, it has been stated that he had retired as head-master and he created Bank Colony with other employees around 30 years ago. He was allotted plot-33 as he was member of the colony and it was registered in his name in the Revenue Department. He got a room and boundry wall constructed around the plot. Roshan Lal said last week, when he went to his plot, a neighbour told him that a person came here a few days ago and told them that he had purchased the plot. When he approached the Revenue epartment, he found that accused Angrej Singh, a resident of Kothe Phula Singh Wala Ablu and his son Iqbal Singh had sold the plot by producing Ravi Kumar, a resident of Janta Nagar as Roshan Lal in front of officials in the Tehsil on September 15, 2016. Advocate Rahul Gupta and Satish Kumar identified Roshan Lal and Iqbal Singh purchased the land, he added. Roshan Lal said the accused had formed a gang with some employees of the Revenue Department and they had sold and purchases property illegally. Investigating officer Darshan Singh said a case had been registered and soon the accused would be held. TNS
