Faridkot: For the gradual rise in mercury in the region, the Faridkot District Magistrate on Friday issued orders to change the school timings for all private and government institutions from Saturday. Starting at 7.30 am, the schools will be opened till 12.30 pm for the next one week. During this time, there would be no involvement of students in any outdoor activity. Faridkot District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Prashar said the move had been initiated to provide respite to the students and to ensure that they do not fall ill. “We decided to change the timings, which will be convenient for children and their parents in view of the rising temperature in the city,” the Deputy Commissioner said. One held with illicit liquor
Bathinda: A person was arrested with country-made 30 bottles of illicit liquor during a check at Jodhpur Kanchian. The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar, a resident of Maur Chrat Singh village. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered against him at the Maur police station.
