No major clue yet in Maur bomb blast

No substantial clue has been found in the Maur bomb blast case after five and a half months of the incident. The investigation is into the first phase.

The only lead in the case is that the battery of the Maruti car used in the crime had been purchased from Sirsa but the person who purchased it is still a mystery.

The police had also released a sketch after some investigation but that has not helped.

The owner of the car, which was used in the blast, was from Delhi, who had sold it to an employee of the Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh.

The employee had further sold the car to someone but the buyer has not been identified yet.

The police had checked call records of various mobiles companies and scanned data.

Initially, the number of suspected calls was 900, which came down to 200 after deep scanning.

SSP Naveen Singla said investigation was on and close to 200 phone calls were under scanner.

“We are also doing efforts to trace WhatsApp calls. Investigation is going on everyday basis. The CIA wings of other districts are also helping us. Soon, we will crack the case,” he said.

Six persons were killed and others seriously injured in a car blast in Maur Mandi on January 31 when Congress candidate from Bathinda (Urban) Harminder Jassi concluded his election rally, barely four days ahead of the polling for the state Assembly elections.

Jassi, a relative of the Sirsa-based dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, escaped with minor bruises. He was sitting in a Toyota Fortuner SUV.
