Dist Sessions Judge inspects Central Jail

BATHINDA: Paramjeet Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, along with Diprava Lakra, Deputy Commissioner, Naveen Singla, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Manila Chugh, Civil Judge (SD)/CJM-cum-secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, visited the Central Jail, Bathinda, on Thursday and a detailed inspection was carried out in all the blocks and barracks, including women’s barracks, factory, hospital and kitchen.

Paramjeet Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, along with Diprava Lakra, Deputy Commissioner, Naveen Singla, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Manila Chugh, Civil Judge (SD)/CJM-cum-secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, visited the Central Jail, Bathinda, on Thursday and a detailed inspection was carried out in all the blocks and barracks, including women’s barracks, factory, hospital and kitchen.

The Superintendent Central Jail, Bathinda, along with doctors on the spot were directed to expedite redress of medical treatment related to requests of inmates. The undertrials in need of legal aid were granted free legal aid on the spot and convicts were motivated to lead a peaceful life in custody. Directions were also issued to provide proper facilities for safe drinking water and serving of chapattis in the kitchen.

The District and Sessions Judge, Bathinda, also interacted with Para Legal Volunteers who have been deputed to help illiterate and needy prisoners in writing down their grievances.

A separate list was prepared for the undertrials who have been in jail for a long time and their challans have not been presented. The convicts and undertrials were further encouraged to continue yoga and channelise their energy into doing acts of well-being for mankind and nature.
