CUP organises series of events to mark foundation day celebrations

BATHINDA: The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, is organising a series of events to mark the celebrations of its 7th foundation day, to be celebrated on February 28.

The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, is organising a series of events to mark the celebrations of its 7th foundation day, to be celebrated on February 28.

The celebrations would witness a series of various educational as well as creative and cultural events. These celebrations started with a two-day annual athletics-cum- sports meet on February 17, which saw a huge participation of students as well as the faculty members.

The event was followed by another series of events in which students got a chance to showcase their creativity and talent in a very unique way through a rangoli-making competition and a best out of waste competition. Students participated in both competitions with zest and zeal. A total of 16 teams participated in the rangoli-making competition while 11 teams participated in the best out of waste competition.

A special lecture on the topic ‘Living Wisely’ — delivered by Dr Samuda Chetri, director, Gross National Happiness Centre, Bhutan — was also organised on the university premises. In his address, Dr Chetri emphasised on the importance of living life in a wise way, which brings the real happiness in life.

The university also celebrated International Mother Language Day. Students hailing from different parts of the country participated in the events organised on the occasion. They exhibited their love for their mother language through different songs, poems and folk songs.

Dr Sanjeev Thakur, Dr Tarun Arora, Dr Monisha Dhiman, Dr Rajinder Kumar, Dr Jublee and Meenakshi Mittal were the coordinators of the events.
