Bathinda, June 22

The district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday staged a protest against the attack on AAP Ropar MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoha by burning an effigy of the state government outside the District Administrative Complex here.

Malwa zone vice-president and Bathinda observer Harpreet Sandhu was present during the protest.

While addressing the protesters, AAP district president Navdeep Jeeda said the government claimed to have launched a crackdown on drugs and illegal mining, but, on the contrary, the Capt government had given patronage to goons involved in such activities.

He said if an MLA was not safe in the state, then they could think about the condition of the common man.

He added that Ropar MLA Amarjit Singh had gone to check illegal mining but he was attacked. The act of goons indicates that they have state government’s backing, he added.

Jeeda threatened that if strict action was not taken against the accused, then AAP would intensify its stir in the coming days.

AAP leader Harpreet Sandhu alleged that AAP had initiated a campaign against drugs and illegal mining in the state, due to which their leaders were being attacked.

He said the AAP’s voice couldn’t be suppressed and their campaign would continue in the coming days. — TNS
