55 cartons of illicit liquor seized, one held

Bathinda, May 24

Following a tip-off, the Bathinda police conducted raids at two places and seized 660 bottles of illicit liquor.

A person was arrested while two others managed to give the police the slip in separate incidents. The police have initiated a probe into the matter.

In the first incident, the police recovered 45 cartons that contained 540 bottles of illicit liquor during a checking of a car at Teona Pujarian in Talwandi Sabo.

In the second incident, the police recovered 10 cartons containing 120 bottles of illicit liquor at Ram Tirak Jaga village.

Inspector Jagdeesh Kumar said that the accused were purchasing the liquor at cheaper rates from Haryana and selling it in villages of Bathinda.

1 booked for uploading obscene picture on social media

Bathinda: A youth has been booked for allegedly uploading an obscene picture of a 14-year-old girl on social media. The accused has been identified as Kinda (18) of Krishna Colony. He has been living with his mother’s sister. ASI Amritpal Singh said, “We are investigating the matter. A case has been registered against the accused.” — TNS
