Thieves of two-wheelers have started a new trend in which they steal remove tyres and batteries of vehicles and place its remaining structure at some secluded place.
As many as seven such cases have been reported in the district in past one month.
The police have taken these bikes in custody and have started investigation.
Bittu, a city resident, said he worked as a supplier in medical company. On Friday, he went to a medical shop on Mall Road for delivery and placed his bike outside the shop.
When as he came back, he found his bike was stolen. He had lodged a complaint. The same evening, policemen told him over the phone that his motorcycle had found near the canal.
However, he was shocked to see his bike without tyres and battery.
The Kotwali police have taken his bike in custody and started investigation.
SHO of the Kotwali police station, inspector Davinder Singh said, “We have found some clue and hope that other such cases will also be cracked in the next 48 hours.”
The CIA-2 wing of the police found a Splendour motorcycle (PB-05-1714) without tyres and battery from National Colony.
Many cases have been reported in the district in which thieves have stolen tyres and batteries from trucks and cars.
SSP Naveen Singla said the best police teams were working in these cases. “We recovered 30 stolen vehicles a few days ago. Soon the accused in these new cases will also be held,” he added.
