Passengers on Air India Flight 462, which took off from the Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport at 2.50 pm for New Delhi had a harrowing time mid air.
The passengers stated that due to bad weather conditions, the plane faced major turbulence and overhead luggage bins opened and baggage fell down. Some of the passengers reportedly fell from their seats as well.
Parshotam Singh Randhawa, a local resident, who was travelling from Amritsar to New Delhi said, “It was terrifying experience. Ten minutes after take off from Amritsar, the plane witnessed unexpected turbulence. The baggage fell down from overhead bins. A passenger got injury on his forehead and in total six passengers suffered bruises.”
Randhawa further said that after a couple of minutes, situation normalised. The flight landed at New Delhi Airport on its scheduled time.
Airport Director Manoj Chansoria said, “The airlines did not report any such issue with us. Planes do witness turbulence due to bad weather. The flight did not return back to Amritsar, thus we are not aware about the incident. The crew might have reported the incident at New Delhi.”
