Members of the Sanjha Adhiyapak Morcha staged a protest against the state government over its education policies at the district administrative complex here today.

Besides education policies, the members protested the decision of changing examination centres and decreasing the teachers’ posts at the government elementary schools. They accused the state government of not fulfilling its poll promises. They demanded disbursement of allowances.

The protests also raised their voice against the non-availability of books. Ashwini Awasthi, a member of the union, said, “The decision of changing examination centres for board exams is not a student-friendly move. It is surely going to put some impact on students and their parents.”

The protesters also burnt an effigy of the state government expressing displeasure over its decisions. Another protestor, Mangal Singh Tanda, said, “The government is not recruiting new graduates. It is not fair for the teaching community.”

They threatened to intensify their protest if their problems were not solved. Lakhwinder Gill, Dilbagh Singh, Germanjeet Singh, Ranjit Singh and others were present on the occasion.
