AMRITSAR: Bhai Ram Singh, executive member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committeee, and Sukhdev Singh, additional secretary, felicitated Avtar Singh, a student from Patiala, for excellent performance in a turban tying competition.

The SGPC officials presented a cheque of Rs 5,100 to Avtar Singh. Ram Singh said the student was specially honoured as he didn’t use mirror to tie the turban. TNS

Two held with stolen bike

The Sadar police have nabbed two persons — Amar Singh of Patti Baghe Wali Verka and Sajjan Singh for allegedly possessing a stolen motorcycle. They were arrested at a checkpoint by a police team. The police said the accused were being interrogated to ascertain their involvement in theft cases. TNS 

3 arrested for bootlegging

The Division C police have arrested Jeet Singh of Gujjarpura area for bootlegging. As many as 40 bottles of illicit liquor were seized from his possession. Meanwhile, the Chheharta police nabbed Resham Singh of Chhota Ibban Kalan and Pawan of Chhota Haripura and seized 12 bottles of whisky. The two could not produce any document. The duo was later released on bail. TNS
