Continuing with his efforts to revive and give a platform to the Bhand and Marasi community, Dastak Theatre’s Rajendra Singh will be heading folk artists from the Bhand community to perform at the Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh.

A play titled “Bhandan Di Pand”, would be held in the memory of the late actor-director Jaspal Bhatti. Directed by Rajendra Singh, who has previously produced two plays on the Bhand community said that his attempts were to revive the community back to its former glory.

“The group of artists will perform a live show for audience. The play will present folk artists in a very natural way, the way they are,” said Singh.

Singh has done two plays including the extensively staged play 8 4, 85, 86 Tey Marasi on the subject. “The art of original social satire is dying with this community. It needs to be saved at all cost which can be done through stage performance,” he said.
