Amritsar: The Civil Lines police have booked the controversial Hindu leader, Sudhir Suri, for allegedly making objectionable remarks against a community through an audio message that has gone viral on social media. Suri, president of Shiv Sena Punjab, is yet to be arrested.



Amritsar: The Civil Lines police have booked the controversial Hindu leader, Sudhir Suri, for allegedly making objectionable remarks against a community through an audio message that has gone viral on social media. Suri, president of Shiv Sena Punjab, is yet to be arrested.  A case under Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act and 67 of the Information Technology Act has been registered against him on the complaint of Megh Nath, a local resident. He stated that the accused circulated an audio message using abusive language against a particular caste and tried to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere among public. Assistant Commissioner of Police Surinder Pal has been investigating the case. TNS

Two arrested with heroin

Tarn Taran: Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested in separate cases for possessing heroin. SSP Darshan Singh Mann on Wednesday said the woman had been identified as Pooja, alias Roopa, of Latiawal village in Sultanpur Lodhi. She was arrested from the Beas bridge by the Goindwal Sahib police, led by ASI Baldev Singh. As much as 255 gram of heroin was seized from her possession. Meanwhile, Inspector Harit Sharma, in charge of the local unit of the CIA staff, arrested Rajbir Singh of Buraj Devasingh village and seized 255 gram of heroin. They have been booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, the SSP added.

One booked for molestation

Tarn Taran: Jagroop Singh of Johal Raju Singh village has been booked for allegedly molesting a girl of the same village. The incident occurred a week back and the case was on Tuesday. The victim, in her complaint to the police, said the accused came to her house when she was alone. When he resorted to indecency, she raised the alarm so he fled.

One nabbed with illicit liquor

Tarn Taran: The Goindwal Sahib police have arrested a woman, Kanti, a resident of Vein Poin, 15 km from here, for possessing illicit liquor. The police said 75,000-ml llicit liquor was seized from her residence. Head Constable Jaswinder Singh, who led the raid, said a case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered against her.
