Amritsar, April 17
Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has come up with a special art gallery in the building of Bhai Gurdass Library on the university campus. A three-day exhibition from April 17 to 20 has also started at the inaugural event.
Prof Shweta Shenoy, head, Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine, GNDU, along with Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Prof SS Behl, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Anish Dua, Prof Geeta Hundal and Prof Mandeep Kaur inaugurated the Gallery History – Dream, a platform to encourage students towards arts.
It comprises of art paintings, drawings, and vintage, historical pictures of the university.
“This is for the first time that such an exhibition highlighting the art work of the students has been organised. We wish to encourage our students,” said Prof Sandhu.
Prof SS Behl said, “This gallery will now have series of exhibitions with different themes and mode of arts. We are trying to cultivate a culture of appreciation among our students. It is a platform for the students to showcase their art, they must feel encouraged. Other students must learn from their fellow students.”
Around 200 paintings were displayed on the inaugural day. Harpreet Singh, a student, said “This is a great initiative. It will act as a platform for students like me to express self creativity.” —TNS
