Farmers booked for blocking roads

As many as 100 farmers, including Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu and Harjinder Singh Tanda, state leaders of Kisan Sangharsh Committee and Azad Kisan Sangharash Committee, respectively, have been booked for blocking roads during protests here yesterday.

Several farmer organisations had blocked roads in Harike, Bhikhiwind and Vein Poin villages. Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu had led the protest in Bhikhwind and Harjinder Singh Tanda in Vein Poin. As many as 25 farmers have been booked by name while others are yet to be identified. The farmers have been demanding complete waiver of loans. Meanwhile, farmers under the banner Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, led by Satnam Singh Pannu, blocked the National Highway 54 at Piddi village and burnt an effigy of the government.
